The Situation
In the Town of Poughkeepsie, New York, the victim was riding his motorcycle on Route 9. There was an accident, and he suffered fatal injuries. We filed and pursued a wrongful death lawsuit for his estate, but the defendant argued that he had been riding his motorcycle at an excessive rate of speed. Thus, they blamed the accident on him.
However, we were able to work with an accident reconstruction team to prove otherwise. The team used computer animation to re-create the collision, and they showed how it really occurred. Through our efforts, and the work of the accident reconstruction team, we were able to prove that the victim was innocent, and that the defendant was to blame for the accident. About 1 year after the date of the accident, our firm won a settlement of $1,200,000 for the victim’s estate.
